STONE AND TREE

Curators: Justyna Kowalska, Michał Suchora

I find the remains of fallen trees during my long wandering in the forests,
usually at the time of year when the vault of the treetops is almost leafless,
says Joanna Przybyla,
who has been known for exhibiting minimally altered parts of trees in museums and galleries since the 80s.

When I find trees that have been brought down by the wind,
I observe and analyze these events in detail,
identifying with them, says the artist,
accepting the natural cycle that runs from growth to disintegration,
along with every phase of change in that continuum.
